Stunt Driver Work in The Cell – El Khalaya

As much as depending on a stunt driver and delivering high-octane action, there is nothing that beats the choreography and organization required of a stunt driver. In Egyptian blockbuster The Cell – El Khalaya, the stunt team organized by stunt coordinator and action director Deni Jordan delivered a non-stop week of car chaos.

With 10 days of preparation and 7 days of 16-hour shooting days, this production featured big car stunts daily — a true endurance, timing, and skill test. Every detail was meticulously planned to satisfy safety needs while delivering unforgettable action. The movie starred big star Ahmed Ezz  and was directed by Tarek Alarian. Producer was Moussa Essa.

High-Speed Action and Roof-Ripping Car Stunt

One of the most spectacular stunts involved ripping the roof off the hero car. The car was driven by stuntman Jesper Olsen at top speed to drive under a stiff metal sign. With the help of the wire team led by Jesper himself, the wires were carefully rigged so that the roof would be ripped off forcefully and realistically — and absolutely no room for error. Because of a miscommunication with art departement  the space between the poles of the sign were built to small so Jesper had 10 cm margin to pass the solid metal poles. He did it perfectly.

Precision Driving in Narrow Streets

As any veteran stunt driver can tell you, real accuracy is achieved in the little things. On The Cell, many of the driving scenes were shot on tight, winding roads, where the vehicles made reverse 180s and J-turns inches away from stunt personnel placed carefully along the road. One wrong move and the whole scene — or, worst-case scenario, a person’s life — could be compromised. But due to the exceptional efforts of drivers such as Søren Rytter and a local stunt drive, all shots were delivered with effortless ease.

Hanging Car Over a 50-Meter Drop

The final scene in the car chase involved a hanging car over a 50-meter cliff with an Egyptian stuntman dangling from the car door. That was high-risk setting involving vehicle rigging from a huge crane, wire rigging the stuntman, and coordinated timing — one possible only through collaborative effort of competent stunt drivers, riggers, and the Stunt Coordinator.

Precision Driving and Chase Scenes in Lange Flate Baller 3

But yet another stunning example of stunt driving excellence comes courtesy of the high-energy Norwegian comedy Lange Flate Baller 3. The film involved a complex car chase inside a tunnel that required not only skill but cool precision driving and perfection.

With 3 days of prep, 3 days of rehearsal and 3 days of filming, the tunnel scene demanded relentless focus. The chase was a pickup truck chasing a large truck, with barely 1–2 meters of space between them at 60 km/h speeds. Add a stuntman on the hood of the speeding pickup — and you have one of the most action-packed tunnel scenes in Nordic film history. It was stunt coordinated by Deni Jordan and director of the movie was Harald Zwart director of Karate Kid.

There was more to driving inside the tunnel. Stuntmen were climbing onto both the truck and the pickup, transferring from pickup to truck in motion. Timing had to be absolutely perfect — and the stunt crew had to be spot-on lap after lap. One miscalculation would have resulted in catastrophe, but the shot went off flawlessly thanks to the incredible focus and communication on set. Movie was produced by Motion Blur in Oslo Norway.
